Node-RED integration for IR control

revision 107197

Selected setup guidance for controlling WB-MIR through the controller MQTT interface, rather than a complete Node-RED manual.

Node-RED is a visual programming environment. On release wb-2609 (Debian Trixie) or later, the wb-node-red package provides a service, persistent flows under /mnt/data and a starter flow connected to the controller MQTT broker. Earlier releases require a different installation method. A 1 GB root filesystem must be expanded to at least 2 GB before using the packaged installation.

apt update && apt upgrade
apt install wb-node-red

The controller interface package wb-mqtt-homeui must be 2.241.0 or later. If an existing Node-RED installation occupies port 1880, migrate that installation before starting the packaged service.

Configure controller user accounts: without them, anyone with network access can enter the editor, which can execute code on the controller. Sign in as an administrator and open Integrations → Node-RED. The editor opens at https://<controller-address>:21880/ using the controller administrator login.

Use mqtt in and mqtt out nodes with the controller broker. Obtain exact device topic names from the MQTT channels page. Connect the desired event or flow to the WB-MIR command control topic; learn the appliance command first using the IR recording guide. An emitted IR command does not provide confirmation of the appliance state.
