WB-LED software and controller setup

revision 106534

Software

Firmware is installed at the factory and supplied free with the device. It is written in C and forms an integral part of the hardware. The bootloader supports firmware updates and recovery of communication settings. Firmware exchanges Modbus RTU data, handles inputs, controls outputs and LEDs, processes overcurrent and thermal protection, and stores settings and measured parameters.

Functions

Inputs support contact debouncing, latching switches, momentary pushbuttons, pulse counting, and short, long, double and short-then-long press detection. Configurable input actions control lighting without a controller. Outputs support single-colour, CCT, RGB and RGB+W strips, with parallel output operation where the selected mode allows it. Brightness and colour transitions are smooth; RGB and HSV palettes are supported.

Configure power-on states and safe-mode actions for loss of communication: retain behaviour, set specified output states, or enable input control. Adjustable PWM frequency can reduce audible resonance. Current and thermal protection limit abnormal operation. The green S LED indicates communication; LEDs 1–4 indicate output states. Fast Modbus events provide prompt updates.

Controller setup

  1. Sign in as an administrator. Open Settings → Configs → Serial device driver configuration.
  2. Use Find and add Wiren Board devices to scan RS-485 ports, then add the detected WB-LED.
  3. Enable polling for values to read and configure write parameters. Groups include Inputs 1–4, Outputs, Safe mode, Power-on behaviour, General, Module data and Diagnostics.
  4. Select Momentary pushbutton for press-type actions or Latching switch for position-based actions. Output settings depend on the dimmer mode.
  5. Save settings. The Devices tab then shows input states and press counters and provides output controls.

The wb-mqtt-serial configurator automatically offers a firmware update when one is available. See device configuration and firmware service.
