Relay mapping matrices, timers and frequency

revision 93719

Translated reference sections for WB-MR6C v.3. Actions run locally in the module; the controller is not required for their execution.

Mapping matrices

Each input can control any output. Separate matrices define actions for rising edges, falling edges, short, long, double and short-then-long presses. Rows correspond to inputs and columns to outputs.

In Serial devices driver configuration, select the module and its input tab. Choose Control by mapping matrix for edges, or Control by button mapping matrix for press types. Web configuration requires firmware 1.17.0 or later and controller software wb-2207 or later. The newer direct-register matrix layout requires firmware 1.19.0 or later.

For direct register configuration, set the input mode in registers 9–15: 4 for edges or 6 for button presses. Matrix values are 0 — no action, 1 — off, 2 — on, 3 — toggle. Missing channels do not shift the register layout; two-input/two-output devices are a separate case. See the register map for address ranges.

Actuator matrix

Actuator actions are 0 — no action; 1 — open; 2 — close; 3 — alternate open/close; 4 — stop; 5 — open while held; 6 — close while held; 7 — alternate open/close while held. Actions 5–7 apply only to long and short-then-long presses. The actuator matrix is 8 × 4 for all relay models.

The actuator mode interlocks paired outputs. Enable it before connecting a motor. Do not use ordinary relay coil commands for an actuator pair.

Timer functions

Each output can independently use direct control or one timer function: on-delay, off-delay, on for a time, off for a time, timed on/off with command reset, or an ON/OFF cycle.

Timer functions override the restart-delay protective function. Actuator control overrides timer functions. Start timer actions from appropriately configured inputs or by writing the corresponding Modbus register or MQTT control.

On Kx and Off Kx are repeatable commands, unlike a simple state command. For the first channel they correspond to coils 108 and 100; see the register map for the remaining channels.

For these relay modules, when both an on-delay timer and a power-on protective delay are configured, the first timer on-delay is ignored at power-on. Timed-on and ON/OFF-cycle timing starts once the protective power-on delay finishes.

Frequency register updates

The measured frequency is updated every 200 ms. When input pulses stop, the value decays by powers of two: when elapsed time since the last edge is twice the last measured period, the reported frequency halves. From 1 kHz, this gives 500 Hz after 2 ms, 250 Hz after 4 ms and 125 Hz after 8 ms. It quickly approaches 1 Hz, then decreases over several seconds.

Controller rules

Enable polling for the required press-counter channels before using them in wb-rules. These counters identify recognised press types, whereas ordinary input counters count accepted closures. A rule should respond to counter changes rather than treating the count as a Boolean button state.
